Peter
Peter was raised in Lakewood, Washington in a very musical environment. If he wasn’t accompanying his mother to church choir practice, he was absorbing his grandparent’s love of big band and swing music. From his father, an accomplished guitar player and vocalist, Peter learned a great deal about singing and performing, and because he was encouraged to explore a wide variety of musical styles, Peter quickly developed his own musical taste.
In school, Peter quickly found his place in the music department. He played French horn in the middle school concert band, trumpet in the jazz band, and sang in a small show choir. In high school Peter quickly worked his way up the ranks of the school bands and choirs. Peter then attended Pierce College in Lakewood, Washington where, despite being a Computer Science major, he spent the majority of his time in the music department playing in the band and singing in the concert choir. In 2003 he became a member of Farwest Jazz, under the direction of Kelly Kunz. This gave Peter the chance to perform at several jazz festivals including The Gene Harris Jazz Festival where he received the Outstanding Male Soloist Award in 2003.
In 2004, Peter became a member of the vocal group Groove For Thought just in time to add his voice to their debut CD. Peter is currently working as a web designer as well as a computer lab tech and recording studio manager at Pierce College. Peter currently splits his time between Lakewood and Vashon Island, Washington.
